Final Blog Post
Hello,
I chose my topic for my social media project by using the purdue databases provide for us. I used a few key words I wanted to focus on and was able to find an article to support them. I looked into words such as "children", "ethnic-racial", and "identity". The article I was able to find is called Young Children's Ethnic-Racial moderates the Impact of early Discrimination Experiences on Child Behavior Problems. I will be reaching my target audience and presenting the information through a powerpoint slide with graphics and bits of information as I speak over the slides. The slides are simplistic to where children, teens, young adult, and more will understand the information and hopefully retain and let the information be helpful to their lives. I shared my educational materials on Brightspace and twitter. By sharing the information on twitter others can learn from the research I have presented. I personally believe the hardest part about translating the information from a fact sheet to a social media post would be being able to find a captivating way that someone will click to learn more. I am an art major personally so I work closely with powerpoints, social media, and presentations mostly. This was extended practice. The other difficult part would be making the information concise when you might have a lot to say after reading the articles. I learned from this project that social media is a great platform for sharing information that you feel strongly about. Most importantly you can build the information yourself, just make sure you are backed up correctly and you can make a change in the world. I hope others will learn from my social media project that discrimination does indeed affect young children. If not seen at first it might be seen in behavior problems later in their lives as we learned with racial and ethnic groups having higher anxiety and depression. This is important as mental health is very important and social media is a large factor as well.
